1996
Foundations of Hospitality
In 1996, recognizing the potential to create something extraordinary, we expanded from the Fairview Caravan Park to include overnight chalets, providing travellers with comfort in a picturesque setting. As the demand for exceptional hospitality grew, so did our vision. A charming restaurant, an intimate conference facility, and a romantic wedding venue soon followed, creating a destination that blended business, leisure, and celebration.
1996-2023
The Birth of a Golfer’s Retreat
By the late 1990s, Fairview extended its offerings to include a par-three golf course, envisioned as a tranquil escape for seasoned players and newcomers. The 18-hole course was completed in February 2023, designed in collaboration with ex-golf professional and trainer Ray Earl. The journey to perfection was not without its trials—challenging terrain, droughts, and the infamous floods of 2000 tested our resolve. Today, officially rated by the South African Professional Golf Association (SAPGA), the Fairview Par-3 Golf Course is a testament to resilience and dedication, welcoming members to attain official handicaps and immerse themselves in the game.
2003
Overcoming Adversity: A New Beginning
In January 2003, disaster struck when a devastating fire engulfed our main building, including the beloved restaurant, kitchen, bar, and event facilities. Faced with adversity, we embraced the challenge with unwavering determination. We rose from the ashes within nine months, unveiling a new venue—three times grander than before. On 29 September 2003, the majestic Limpopo Ballroom was inaugurated with a breathtaking performance by the internationally renowned Afrikaans a cappella group, “Cutt Glass,” as part of the Hadeda Arts Festival. Since then, the ballroom has hosted countless prestigious events, creating cherished memories for guests from near and far.
2007-2022
Refining Luxury and Wellness
Fairview’s evolution continued with the creation of The Village at Fairview in 2007- a five-star haven of indulgence. 2013, the Zen Spa was introduced, offering a serene retreat for relaxation and rejuvenation. By August 2022, we elevated the wellness experience further, transforming the spa into the Equilibrium Boutique Wellness Spa. With state-of-the-art hydrotherapy facilities and a carefully curated selection of signature treatments, guests can embark on a journey to restore the balance of body and mind.
2021
Culinary Excellence and Enchanting Venues
In 2021, the Fairview Clubhouse, Restaurant, and Bar opened its doors, offering a refined yet relaxed culinary experience on the embankment of the Letaba River. More recently, the historic Matumi Venue has been meticulously renovated, boasting new ablution facilities, a spacious veranda with serene views, and an exclusive bar. Designed for intimate weddings and bespoke events, Matumi is poised to become a distinguished destination for fine dining and exquisite wine tastings.
2025
Virtual Golf - Fairview Swing Lab
Due to a massive demand for golf training, practice opportunities, and an overall need for social interaction, the exciting virtual golf facility – Fairview Swing Lab will open its doors in March 2025. Newcomers to the game and experienced golfers may have the opportunity to enjoy the well-equipped, air-conditioned facility.
